Full Story:
The Municipality of Monaco recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the “1 birth = 1 tree” environmental initiative. Organized in collaboration with the National Forests Office (O.N.F.), this event highlights the municipal institution’s commitment to the environment, reforestation, and the preservation of natural heritage. As part of the global campaign “One Plant for the Planet,” spearheaded by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, one tree is planted for every birth in the Principality of Monaco. This year, 804 trees will be planted. A symbolic ceremony took place on the model car track on Route de La Turbie, where the first trees were planted. Marjorie Crovetto, Deputy Mayor in charge of “Cadre de Vie,” Environment, and Sustainable Development, attended the event, along with Jean-Jacques Raffaelle, Mayor of La Turbie, and Fabrice Manzone, Deputy Head of the Territorial Unit Roya Littorale Est at the National Forests Office. Marjorie Crovetto emphasized that nearly 1,000 trees are planted each year, corresponding to the number of births recorded in Monaco’s Civil Status Office. Since 2008, over 14,000 trees have been planted.
