Full Story:
Monaco is set to host the 5th Meeting of the Historic Sites of the Grimaldi of Monaco on June 15th and 16th. Throughout history, the Grimaldi family has formed numerous connections, staying in various regions of France and Italy and acquiring titles through marriages and diplomatic agreements. To maintain ties with these former “feuds” and commemorate their shared past, Prince Albert II of Monaco regularly visits territories and municipalities. The event was initiated by his desire in 2018 for the 1st Meeting of the Historic Sites of the Grimaldi of Monaco.
This year’s guests include the French municipalities of Breil-sur-Roya and Bathernay, as well as the Italian municipalities of Airole, Ventimiglia, Olivetta San Michele, Ripacandida, Campagna, Monteverde, Spinazzola, Poggiorsini, Terlizzi, and Canosa di Puglia. The occasion will feature numerous activities such as cultural events, tastings, encounters with local artists and artisans, folk dances, as well as traditional games, farm animals, pony rides, and more. This inclusive event will showcase each locality’s historical connections with Monaco, catering to both adults and children.
The highlight of the event will be the “Son & Lumière” show, which will narrate the history of the host cities and their ties to the Grimaldi dynasty through a projection on the façade of the Prince’s Palace. The show is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th at 10 pm and entrance is free. For more information and the complete program, visit https://federationsitesgrimaldi.mc/5eme-rencontre-2.
