Monaco successfully organized the Monacollecte event in collaboration with the government and the municipality. The event aimed to collect and reuse objects and recycle waste. Participants could deposit items they no longer needed, including those that cannot be disposed of in traditional containers. Various associations were present to collect reusable items such as clothes, appliances, books, and more. The SMA recycled or disposed of items such as batteries, light bulbs, X-rays, paints, solvents, and gas cylinders. The event also featured informative stands and exhibitions on waste collection and treatment. The event attracted a large audience, and associations collected a total of 16,300 tonnes of goods. The SMA contributed 2 tonnes to this total. Around 2,000 people, including adults and students, participated in the various workshops and stands. Pierre Bardy, the director of the SMA, expressed his gratitude for the success of the event, highlighting the support of the public and the efforts of the associations, volunteers, and SMA team. He also emphasized that the SMA handles waste management throughout the year and is considering introducing a truck for occasional collections in the principality. Bardy acknowledged the ongoing commitment of the SMA’s team members who work daily to address Monaco’s environmental challenges.
