Full Story:
Starting from April 2, 2025, eligible Monégasque nationals and residents who wish to travel to the United Kingdom for business, tourism, or airport transits will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The ETA is a digital document that grants entry to the UK for visa-exempt travelers, excluding British and Irish citizens. It will be mandatory for these travelers to obtain the authorization before boarding their flight or any other means of transport to the UK. Europeans, including Monaco, will have the option to apply for their ETA from March 5, 2025, and Monégasque travelers will need to have an ETA from April 2, 2025. The ETA applies to citizens of visa-exempt countries for stays under 6 months, including those from the European Union and the European Economic Area. This includes Monégasque nationals, including babies and children, with parents making the application on their behalf. Travelers who already have a visa or residence permit for the UK or those who require a visa for their stay (stays over 6 months, work visa, student visa, etc.) are exempt from obtaining the ETA. The ETA application will be done online through a dedicated portal or a mobile application. The cost of the ETA is £10 per application, and it will be valid for two years. After obtaining a new passport, a new ETA will need to be requested. Before any travel, it is recommended to consult the official government website for more information and to apply for the ETA.
