Full Story:
Monaco is continuing its project to reduce advertising billboards in the Principality. The Mayor of Monaco, Georges Marsan, and Georges Gambarini, Communal Councillor and Delegate for Display and Advertising, have presented the new strategy for public advertising. As part of an eco-responsible approach to improve urban quality of life and reduce carbon footprint, the city has begun the mass removal of public advertising billboards from public roads. Over the past few years, the Display and Advertising Service has been transitioning from traditional paper billboards to digital displays, including more energy-efficient LED panels. The Mayor stated that the city is committed to ensuring the integration of advertising into the urban landscape, prioritizing visual pollution reduction and transitioning to energy-efficient LED panels. In January 2025, as part of the pollution reduction program, 17 billboards of 12 square meters were dismantled, with an additional removal of six billboards planned for 2026. The city is focusing on modernizing its advertising system with LED displays that consume less energy. Two new digital screens will be installed, allowing for more flexible communication while limiting visual and luminous pollution. The goal is to reduce advertising space while providing an effective support system for local businesses, associations, and events. The revenue generated from advertising contributes to the municipal budget and ensures financial flexibility for everyday projects.
