The Yacht Club Monaco (YCM) recently held an awards ceremony to honor the best sailors of 2024 and welcome new members in a festive evening. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the President of the Club, presented the awards and delivered a speech emphasizing the YCM’s dual mission as a private and exclusive club dedicated to its 2,500 members from 81 nationalities and its contribution to making Monaco the reference destination for yachting by combining innovation and sustainability. This commitment is reflected in the initiative “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting,” which positions the Club as a key player in ocean conservation and maritime innovation. The YCM has various sustainability initiatives, including the upcoming 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, focusing on artificial intelligence, and the SEA Index® environmental standard for recreational boat owners. The Club also celebrated several members’ outstanding achievements in sailing, such as the participation of two YCM members in the America’s Cup finals and the Offshore Powerboat World Champion title. Additionally, the YCM announced its participation in the Admiral’s Cup after a 22-year absence, a project supported by Vice-President Pierre Casiraghi. The evening concluded with the presentation of the YCM Awards – UBS Trophy, honoring the best sailors in different categories. British sailor Graeme Peterson was the recipient of the prestigious Sailor of the Year award, and Océane Schroeder was crowned the winner in the youth category.
