Monaco recently participated in the 74th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. Led by Mr. Christophe ROBINO, Government Counselor-Minister for Social Affairs and Health, the Monegasque delegation attended the session from October 29 to 31, 2024. The meeting brought together delegations from the 53 member states of WHO Europe, as well as representatives from partner organizations and civil society, to assess the health situation in Europe and discuss future activities. Mr. ROBINO emphasized the importance of ambitious and concerted action in the face of major challenges destabilizing the region. The session witnessed lively debates on the impact of armed conflicts on the health of populations in Ukraine and the Middle East. Monaco stressed the need to uphold the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and strongly condemned attacks on healthcare infrastructure. Mr. ROBINO also highlighted the necessity of ensuring universal access to vaccines, particularly in conflict zones, and expressed concern over the re-emergence of polio in Gaza. Dr. Hans KLUGE was re-elected for a second term as the Regional Director of WHO Europe, with unanimous support from member states. During the session, the Monegasque delegation engaged in discussions with various counterparts and partners, exchanging recent advancements and exploring possibilities for collaboration to improve public policies and services for the population. The delegation included Mr. Christophe ROBINO, Mr. Alexandre BORDERO, Ms. Chloé PETRUCCELLI, and Mr. Antoine ANTONINI.
