Full Story:
Monaco continues its celebration of 75 years of UNESCO membership with a photography exhibition. The exhibition showcases the winners of the Prince Albert II Foundation’s environmental photography contest. This event follows earlier celebrations highlighting Monaco’s contributions to culture and education. The exhibition focuses on the field of science, particularly oceanography, which has a long-standing tradition in Monaco thanks to its Princes, including Prince Albert I. The displayed photographs, located at the UNESCO headquarters, are from the 4th Prince Albert II Foundation’s Environmental Photography Award. The foundation actively collaborates with UNESCO to protect and improve global health, especially within the framework of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission’s Decade of the Oceans. The competition received over 11,000 entries from 2,600 photographers representing 134 countries, competing in five categories. The inauguration of the exhibition was attended by various UNESCO officials, including the President of the General Conference. The celebrations will conclude with the publication of a book in December 2024, documenting Monaco’s shared journey with UNESCO and its commitment to universal values of peace, culture, education, and sustainable development.
